In 1983, at the age of 23, Bert van Son moved to China to get a job in the textile industry. There, he learned a lot from the Chinese culture but also saw firsthand the effects of today’s fast fashion industry on factory workers: the labourers were pressured to quickly produce cheap garments risking their safety and health.
Ever since, he knew that one day he was going to do things differently. It all started in 2013, with the introduction of “Lease A Jeans”, an innovative approach to offer guilt-free consumption.
Together with a dedicated team, he turned MUD Jeans into a sustainable clothing brand that already won several awards, such as the Sustainability Leadership Award. MUD Jeans is the only brand that works completely according to the principles of the circular economy.
WHAT IF WE ALL
OUR OWN MESS?
THIS SIMPLE THOUGHT
LED TO A NEW
WAY OF THINKING.
WE DON’T WANT YOU
TO KEEP THOSE UNWORN JEANS
IN YOUR WARDROBE
To us, it does’t make sense to keep jeans you don’t longer wear in your wardrobe. Nor does it make sense to throw them away. Because we all know that our resources aren’t unlimited. The circular economy comes with a solution. See waste as a source of growth to make something new. That’s what we do. We create new jeans from our materials. And the best part is that we make an environmental impact by cutting back on resource consumption.
ONLY TOGETHER WE CAN
REDUCE THE EFFECTS
FASHION HAS ON THE
